State Minister for ICT announced 3 more labs for BUET

Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Minister of State for Information and Communication Technology, inaugurated a specialized ICT academy on the campus of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) on Wednesday morning (March 23) to provide students a chance to research and test their innovations in leading the Fourth Industrial Revolution. In addition to providing overall support for the use of the latest technologies such as 5G, Cloud and Internet Protocol, tech giant Huawei Bangladesh has also provided technical assistance to BUET for the establishment of the academy. Huawei and BUET agreed to set up the academy in February last year, as mentioned in the presentation on the academy. Within a year, 83 certification courses in 19 subjects will be offered from the academy. The training program will be conducted with 2500 students initially for 30 students in each batch. In his inaugural address, State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak said the government has already built the infrastructure to provide internet at the village level. ICT Incubators and Sheikh Russel IT Training Centers and Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation Centers are being set up in different universities. Besides, the IT academy will be set up in five more universities after BUET in collaboration with Huawei, the state minister said. "I have already talked to Mr. Pan about expanding this initiative to other universities," he said. According to the plan, Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), Rajshahi School of Engineering and Technology (RUET) and one more ICT Academy will be set up at Jessore and Dhaka. In his speech, Palak announced the gift of a future-oriented specialized computer and VLSI lab and unibator to BUET in a short time. "We will be able to set up this lab in a few days after we get the specification of the necessary equipment from you for the Advanced Computer Lab," he said. “Besides, I would expect our students to be interested in working with robotics, cyber security, microprocessor designing and artificial intelligence”, he added. BUET Vice-Chancellor Satya Prasad Majumdar presided over the ceremony while BUET Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abdul Jabbar Khan; head of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Dr. Kamrul Hasan; IICT director Dr. Md. Rubaiyat Hossain Mandal; CEO of Huawei Technologies Bangladesh Pan Jun Fang spoke on the occasion. Earlier in the day, in a meeting with BUET Vice-Chancellor and various department heads, the state minister sought advice on how the ICT department could work more closely with BUET to lead the fourth industrial revolution. He was accompanied by Dr. Abdul Mannan, Executive Director of Bangladesh Computer Council; Sami Ahmed, Managing Director of Startup Bangladesh; Enamul Kabir, Director of Training at Bangladesh Computer Council and Tariq Mosaddeq Barkatullah, Director of Cyber ​​Security Agency.
